Bowls-Their Sorrows Shall be Multiplied That Hasten After Another god. Part OneBowls There are various types of Bowls or wine cups the Bible uses. Throughout the Scriptures, the cup or the bowl is used as a metaphor or a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally refer to in order to suggest a similarity. In the Middle East, the “bowl” or the “cup” is used as a “figure of speech” to describe an individual’s fate. Fate, meaning an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future. Let us look at Psalms chapter 16. Michtam of David Psalms 16 1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. 2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; 3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. 4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. 5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. Topic: Their Sorrows Shall be Multiplied That Hasten After Another god. I know that we are talking about bowls and unbelievably everything that I will be talking about will relate to bowls in some way or another. However, right now, I want to place emphasis on verse 4 where it says, “Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god. This psalms is a prayer of confidence in God. The writer talks about his confidence in God’s ability to provide safety for him. The psalmist also lets us know that all good things come from the Lord. Not only is the psalmists pleased with God but he is also pleased with God’s people. The psalmist calls them the Lord’s faithful. In the King James Version Psalms 16:3b the psalmist speaks of the same excellence in which he has delighted in. In other words, the psalmist has a feeling of extreme pleasure or satisfaction in being around other saints. The saints are able to provide a source of happiness for him and to him. Relate to bowls relate to bowls relate to bowls True saints are God’s faithful people. When you are around true saints of God, you will find it can be one of the most pleasurable experiences ever. True saints are people who strive to obey God in everything. Now, true saints are not always going to be perfect, but they still, will try with a sincere heart, to do everything accordingly to the Word of God. True saints will not entertain other gods with the little “g”. What does it mean when I say other gods with the little g.? What many people do not know is that there are good and evil spirits that are controlling the world. Another name for evil spirits is called “demons” or “gods” with a little g. Good angels are just angels. The Bible shows us this, and lets us know that Satan and his fallen group of angels have been trying to control the world since Adam and Eve were created. Our job is not to serve them but to serve God. Genesis 3:1-5 King James Version 1. Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Many things that we are seeing and reading, that are taking place in the news is being orchestrated, plan and control in a complex undertaking done by spirits in an invisible world, and the fruits, sign or symptom; are being manifested in the world of touch, smell, see and hear. For example, Job 1:6 King James Version 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he curse thee to thy face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. If we look at verse 11 closely, Satan challenges God to touch everything that Job has in, in the earth, which is the natural realm, order to provoke Job to curse God. Second, if you notice God reminds Satan that all that Job owns, all that Job possess, except for his soul, is in Satan’s hands, which means in Satan’s power. From that moment on, those demonic angelic beings began, in the supernatural realm, to orchestrate that which would take place and was agree upon, to be manifested in the natural realm. Prayer to God undoes it, praying with your Bible open and praying, asking God to defeat the enemy in Jesus name disrupts these spiritual beings activities. Job 1:13 -22 King James Version 13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. Again, what is the purpose for reading to you the Scriptures, is to demonstrate to you that there is another world invisible to the senses, a supernatural world were good and evil spirits are orchestrating everything that we see taking place in the earth. Here are is another example, Job Chapter 2 again the Bible is trying to show us and illustrate to us how the supernatural realm affects the natural realm. 1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. 4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. 6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. 7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. 8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. 9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. All the way throughout the Bible, demons are shown as preparing to take action or effect change on and in the earth. Since Satan is not omnipresent (present everywhere), he uses demons to do his will and carry through his purposes throughout the world. They constitute the "powers of the air" (Ephesians 2:2) and the "powers of darkness" (Colossians 1:13) and are all under the control of Satan. Therefore, when we do that which is not of God then what we are doing is following Satan and his invisible army of gods with the little “g”. Those that rush to other gods are bringing to themselves trouble; will not drink from the cup of salvation. Here is another example, I Kings 22:22 key verse. 1 And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. 2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. 3 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria? 4 And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses. 5 And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day. 6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 7 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him? 8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. 9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah. 10 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them. 11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them. 12 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand. 13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak. 15 So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 16 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? 17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. 18 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? 19 And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. 20 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. 21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. 22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. 23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. 24 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? 25 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself. 26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son; 27 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace. 28 And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you. 29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead. 30 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle. 31 But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel. 32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out. 33 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him. 34 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. 35 And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot. 36 And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country. 37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. 38 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake. 39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead. 41 And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. 42 Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. 43 And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places. 44 And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel. 45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land. 47 There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king. 48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber. 49 Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not. 50 And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead. 51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel. 52 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin: 53 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done. Therefore, what are we seeing here in these portions of Scriptures? Seen that we have spiritual enemies that orchestrate against us in the supernatural realm and then execute their plans their schemes and their strategies in the natural realm with the whole intent and purpose to kill, steal and to destroy life on this earth and what is the cup of salvation? Jesus Christ. We also learned to do that which is contrary to God’s laws after going or running after gods with a little “g” demons, or evil spirits, therefore, when we run after these gods we are rejection the cup or bowl of salvation.

Bowls
There are various types of Bowls or wine cups the Bible uses.  Throughout the Scriptures, the "cup" or the "bowl" is used as a "metaphor" or a "figure of speech" in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally refer to in order to suggest a similarity.   In the Middle East, the “bowl” or the “cup” is used as a “figure of speech” to describe an individual’s "fate." Fate, meaning an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future.   Let us look at Psalms chapter 16.

Michtam of David
Psalms 16
1 Preserve me, O God:  for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord:  my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god:  their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:  thou maintainest my lot.

Subtopic: Their Sorrows Shall be Multiplied That Hasten After Another god.

I know that we are talking about bowls and unbelievably everything that I will be talking about will relate to bowls in some way or another. However, right now, I want to place emphasis on verse 4 where it says, “Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god."  This psalms  is a prayer of confidence in God.

True saints are God’s faithful people.

However, if we are disobeying God's Word then we are running to other gods.

Genesis 3:1-5 King James Version
1. Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.   And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For example, Job 1:6 King James Version
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou?  Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?  10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?  thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he curse thee to thy face.
12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power;  only upon himself put not forth thine hand.   So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

If we look at verse 11 closely, Satan challenges God to touch everything that Job has  in the earth, which is  in the natural realm, reason in order to provoke Job to curse God. Second, if you notice God reminds Satan that all that Job owns, all that Job possess, except for his soul, is in Satan’s hands, which means in Satan’s power. This power was given to Satan during the fall when Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit.  From that moment on, those demonic angelic beings began, in the supernatural realm, to orchestrate that which would take place and was agreed upon, to be manifested in the natural realm. Prayer to God undoes it, praying with your Bible open and praying, asking God to defeat the enemy in Jesus name disrupts these spiritual beings activities.

Job 1:13 -22 King James Version
13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:
15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword;  and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead;  and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither:  the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away;  blessed be the name of the LORD.
22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Again, what is the purpose for reading to you the Scriptures, to demonstrate to you that there is another world invisible to the senses, a supernatural world were good and evil spirits are orchestrating everything that we see taking place in the earth.

All throughout the Bible, demons are shown as preparing to take action or effect change on and in the earth.

1 And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel
2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
3 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria

26 And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
27 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel

45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah
52 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
53 For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

Therefore, what are we seeing here in these portions of Scriptures?  That we have spiritual enemies that are orchestrating against us in the supernatural realm and then are executing their plans, their schemes and their strategies in the natural realm with the whole intent and purpose to kill, steal and to destroy life on this earth.  What is the cup of salvation? Jesus Christ.  We also learned to do that which is contrary to God’s laws go or running after "gods" with a little “g” demons, or evil spirits, is to drink wrath and  when we run after these gods we are rejecting the "cup" or "bowl" of salvation.

Psalms 16:5 King James Version
5.  The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
