14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
The breastplate was made of either bronze or brass. A brass breastplate with its golden color, when it was out in the sun it would shine and sparkles, God wants our hearts in Him to shine and sparkle. When a scrape or something rubs up against it, it would cause the breastplate to have a beautiful luster.
The beauty of the breastplate was always enhanced by the using of it, and in the walking in it. (Walking also means conduct).
In other words, the more scrapes that it got in the battles, you had fought in, when wearing it, the more elegant, the more refine and the more the breastplate would shine. This is how a believer in Christ Jesus should shine, because we have seen, God fight our battles and give us the victory therefore our righteous should shine, shine and shine.
